The gang that couldn’t write straight – Marc Weingarten
In a time of frenzied cultural change traditional just-the –facts journalism failed
to bring order to the chaos. Starting in 1965 and spanning a ten year period,
a group of writers including Tom Wolfe, Gay Talese, Hunter S Thompson, Joan Didion,
joined their elders, including Truman Capote and Norman mailer to completely reinvent
American letters. A time when journalism didn’t report America but reshaped it. Weingarten
takes the reader on an enjoyable ride through New Journalism’s famous works.
Room full of mirrors – Charles R Cross
Jimi Hendrix the legendary guitarist and the original rock and roll rebel,
lived an outrageous life, from his troubled childhood to meteoric success
in Swinging London and a tragic early death. Charles R Cross has unlocked the
mystery of one of rock’s enduring legends and created a supremely moving and revealing
portrait of the man behind the myth.
